Abstract

The acceleration control device stabilizes the acceleration of a load during changes in velocity of a driving member 10. This rotates in the direction of arrow 11 and has a plurality of radially projecting extensions 12. These engage coiled ends 13 of rolled band springs 14. The other ends of springs 14 are attached to driven member 15. When an abrupt change in velocity is experienced by member 10, the coiled ends 13 of springs 14 are deflected. Much of the energy due to the acceleration of member 10 is absorbed in the form of frictional losses.
