Abstract

This method is for welding memory planes together in staggered core line arrays. Terminals 20 for the core lines are molded into rectangular frame 22 of the memory planes. Terminals 20 have leads 24 for connecting them to like terminals in different planes. Terminals 20 are connected at each end to selvages 26 and 28. These hold them in position while they are molded into frame 22. Leads 24 from terminals 20 do not extend perpendicularly from the frame, but are arranged at an angle Y with respect to the perpendicular.

Two such core planes are connected together in mirror-image fashion so that the leads extend from them at opposing angles. This causes the leads of upper core plane 30 to cross over and contact the leads of lower core plane 32. Thus, lead 30a from terminal a of plane 30 crosses over and contacts lead 32b from terminal b of plane 32. Likewise, leads 30b...30d cross over and contact leads 32c... 32e, respectively. Therefore, when core lines are connected to terminals a...e of planes 30 and 32, the core lines connected to terminals a...d of plane 30 are electrically connected to terminals b...e respectively, of plane 32.

To electrically interconnect the core line connected to terminal e of plane 30 with the core line connected to terminal a of plane 32, selvage edge 34 of plane 30 is left as a connection between terminals o and e of plane 30.
