Abstract

This amplifier reduces the noise ordinarily introduced on lead line 5 connecting photomultiplier tube PMT to the emitter of transistor T1. T1 is connected in a grounded-base configuration operating directly on the PMT output current. Due to the low input impedance of T1, noise introduced on line 5 has less effect on the output signal coupled from the collector of T1 via line 7 to the base of transistor T2. The latter operates as an emitter-follower providing an output at its emitter.
