Abstract

The drawing is an enlarged showing of a miniature memory cell unit. lock 10 holds a tunnel diode and associated components as one unit of n extremely fast core memory array. Resistor 11 i encapsulated or molded into block 10 so that one of its leads 12 is molded fastand straight axially and extends directly upward vertically. The other lead 13 is bent in a U-shaped formation. While the lower part of the U is locked in the plastic, the upper extending end 14 is free and centrally located in cylindrical recess 15 formed in the top of block 10. One or more toroidal magnetic memory cores can be stacked within recess 15 and in toroidal magnetic memory cores can be stacked within recess 15 and in position to encircle the lead end 14 of resistor 11.

The cores in recess 15 also encircle another wire. This is a word drive wire and part of the memory array windings. Provision is made for the guidance and retention of the word wire by shaping block 10 to receive it, Molded in block 10 is an inverted U-shaped sequence of recesses including the long through hole 16 at the right.
