Abstract

The transducer 10 for a magnetostrictive device such as a delay line includes a bifilar winding 11. The turn spacing for winding 11 is selected to be equal to one-half a wavelength of the ultra-sonic wave translated by the stress-wave propagating member 12 of the delay line.

Magnetostrictive Transducer

The transducer 10 for a magnetostrictive device such as a delay line includes a bifilar winding 11. The turn spacing for winding 11 is selected to be equal to one-half a wavelength of the ultra-sonic wave translated by the stress- wave propagating member 12 of the delay line.

One pair of ends of the bifilar winding is connected to the wave-signal input or output device 13 of the transducer 10 while the other pair of ends is connected together as shown. The bifilar winding together with its selected turn spacing bring about the reinforcement of the wave signal appearing in it. This improves the efficiency of the transducer 10. The latter can be employed for transmitting or receiving purposes.
