Document Handling system

Along the transport line 1 for the documents 2, one or more pairs of rotating discs 3 and 4 are mounted for changing the feeding direction, e. g., for stacking purposes.

Each pair of rotating discs has discs 3 and 4 which are equiaxially mounted one on top of the other. Disc 3 is constantly driven. Disc 4 does not rotate and is axially moved by spring 5 away from disc 3. Electromagnet 6, when energized, draws disc 4 toward disc 3.

Any document which is between discs 3 and 4 at such time is thus engaged and swung into drive wheels 8 mounted in front of stacker pocket 7. Energization of the magnet 6 takes place under the control of a photocell, not shown.
