Abstract

This rotary gang punching device has a solid steel roll, not shown, and a cooperating hollow steel punch roll 10. A slot or recess 18 extends axially along a portion of the periphery of roll 10 which is adapted to receive a row of individual punch support blocks 24. These are held by individual retaining plates 12 mounted in grooves 19 and 20 which extend along each side of recess 18. Each block 24 is adapted to removably support an individual punch element 25 or insert which coacts directly against a document, and the surface of roll 10 to produce the perforations.

Rotary Punching Device

This rotary gang punching device has a solid steel roll, not shown, and a cooperating hollow steel punch roll 10. A slot or recess 18 extends axially along a portion of the periphery of roll 10 which is adapted to receive a row of individual punch support blocks 24. These are held by individual retaining plates 12 mounted in grooves 19 and 20 which extend along each side of recess 18. Each block 24 is adapted to removably support an individual punch element 25 or insert which coacts directly against a document, and the surface of roll 10 to produce the perforations.

The arrangement is flexible and is easily set up, since each support block and punch insert assembly can be interchanged or the support blocks can be left alone and only the punch inserts changed.
