Abstract

A light shutter has an aluminum block 10 with a first hole 11 through which light is transmitted. A larger hole 12 is perpendicular to hole 11. A steel ball 13 is located in large hole 12. Energizing an electromagnet 14 lifts the ball 13 and cuts off the light path, thus acting as a shutter.
