Abstract

Zener diode Z is used in series with the common coil return of a plurality of coil clamp diodes of which D is representative to clamp the inductive spikes of a plurality of hammer coils of which W' is representative. A capacitor C is connected in series with the winding W of a hammer fire check core. This is in lieu of connecting the winding W directly across the hammer drive winding W' and thermistor R as done previously.

A capacitor C is connected in series with the winding W of a hammer fire check core. This is in lieu of connecting the winding W directly across the hammer drive winding W' and thermistor R as done previously.

This limits the current through the drive winding W to a pulse of relatively short duration, even though the current through hammer drive winding O and driver transistor T may persist. Accordingly, in many instances it is no longer necessary to use an extra equal check delay core plane to permit reading out the check cores on a later print cycle.
