Sensing Brush

A sensing brush for sensing holes in punched cards and the like is formed by using a die cast ferrule 10. This has a recess formed in it with spaced protuberances 12 providing partial separators between pairs of wire strands 14.

Recess 11 provides a loose fit for the wire strands 14. These are then secured firmly by a staking operation. Staking tools 16 on opposite sides of the ferrule force protuberances 12 between strands 14 to lock them in place.
