Bath for the Preparation of Silver Palladium alloys

A plating bath for the deposition of silver-palladium alloys is realized. This bath consists of silver and palladium salts and ammonium salts.

The bath produces plates which are mirror bright. The deposits are extremely adherent. The composition of the deposits can be varied from 0 to 100% palladium. The composition of the deposit varies directly and linearly with the composition of the bath. Typical Formulation Typical Parameters AgNO(3) 10 gms pH = 8. 5 - 11. 5 PdCl(2) 10 gms Temp. =25 degrees C - 85 degrees C NH(4)PO(4) 20 gms N(2)PO(4) 100 gms Current Density 15-45 ma/in./2/ H(2)O to 1.0 liter.
