Abstract

This magnetic recording head arrangement for reducing signal loss has a blade 11 bearing down on the magnetic tape 13 at the read gap 15 so that any particle under the tape is squeezed into the tape, rather than causing tenting which results in loss of a signal.

Tent Reducer

This magnetic recording head arrangement for reducing signal loss has a blade 11 bearing down on the magnetic tape 13 at the read gap 15 so that any particle under the tape is squeezed into the tape, rather than causing tenting which results in loss of a signal.

The blade 11 is carried by a pivoted arm 17 which has substantial inertia in relation to tape speed. A dash pot 19 dampens vibrations.
