Abstract

Camera 10 is mounted by height-adjustable clamp 13 on moveable post 14. Camera 10 contains a negative 31 having a figure under a light 32 and has a focus adjustment 30 to cast an image 12, which is a reduced version of the figure on negative 31. The size of image 12 is a function of the size of negative 31, the camera lens, and the height of the camera above the image made by adjusting clamp 13.

Step and Repeat Camera

Camera 10 is mounted by height-adjustable clamp 13 on moveable post 14. Camera 10 contains a negative 31 having a figure under a light 32 and has a focus adjustment 30 to cast an image 12, which is a reduced version of the figure on negative 31. The size of image 12 is a function of the size of negative 31, the camera lens, and the height of the camera above the image made by adjusting clamp 13.

Image 12 is cast upon a photosensitive plate 11 within a darkroom. Plate 11 is supported in a fixed position on a frame 20, upon which the camera 10 is movably mounted.

Precision movement of the camera in two dimensions in accomplished by rotation of knobs 10 and 22 which are capable of moving the camera in X and Y dimensions of frame 20 in a micrometric manner to a fraction of a thousandth of an inch.

Plate 17 is moveable left or right in the X direction by rotation of knob 22. Plate 17 is supported on one side by the screw shaft 21 fixed to knob 22 and on the other side by a similar screw shaft 23 which is also rotated by knob 22 by gear linkage, not shown. Hence, rotation of knob 22 rotates screw shafts 21 and 23 by equal amounts so that both sides of plate 17, engaged by their respective screws 21 and 23, move by the same amount and do not bind.

Knob 19 rotates threaded shaft 18 mounted in plate 17. Threads on shaft 18 engage a threaded element fixed on the underside of plate 16 that supports post 14 to obtain micrometric movement of the positio...
