Lamination Stacking Machine for IBM 131 Magnetic Head

This is a machine for stacking magnetic head laminations.

The machine has spindle A for receiving a roll of lamination ribbon B and a drive wheel C. This has two rows of drive pins D that engage punched holes in the side sections of ribbon B. Transfer wheel E rotates with wheel C and has retractable pins F which receive the laminations. Cutter wheels shear the individual laminations from the side sections of ribbon B as the laminations are received on pins F.

The laminations are stacked on wheel E pins and advanced to welding electrode G, then to a stack ejector station H. Laminations are stacked and then welded as wheel E rotates. After a predetermined number of laminations is welded into a stack, the stack is ejected at station H onto a removable carrier plate I which rotates under wheel E.
