Abstract

Record cards 10 are fed from hopper 11 by picker knife 12 past read station 13 to a first punch station 14. Cards 10 are fed into punch station 14 by an interrupted roll 15 and a cooperating roll 16. Roll 15 operates to feed the cards so that, with the cards being fed ``9'' edge first, row ``3'' is brought into the punching position. The card in station 14 is then incrementally advanced by intermittently operated feed rollers 17 to bring rows ``2'',``1'', ``0'',``11'' and ``12'' into punching position. Feed rolls 17 are normally open. They are operated to close upon the record cards only to feed them relative to the punch unit at punch station 14.

Computer Output Punch

As the card leaves punch station 14, intermittent rolls 17 open. Interrupted roll 18 cooperating with roll 19 feeds the card into position at a second punch station 20. The card is fed by rolls 18 and 19 between a pair of intermittently operated feed rolls 21. These are open at the time the card is brought into punch station 20. The card is positioned at punch station 20 so that row ``9'' is in punching position. Rows ``9'' through ``4'' are then brought into punching position at punch station 20 by feed rolls 21. Just after punching the fourth row, intermittent rolls 21 open and the card is fed by an interrupted roll 22 and a cooperating roll 23 to stacker

Thus, rows ``3'' through ``12'' are punched at the first punch station 14. Then the card is advanced to the second punch station 20 where r...
