The system provides image storage for scan conversion and flicker-free presentation of a multi-color display. The single, black and white storage CRT records the color information relative to the image in terms of intensity of stored electrostatic charge.

The input to storage tube 10 includes digital data processor 12. This supplies graphic image delineating information via cable 14, color information via cable 16, and regenerate control information via cable 17. Together, the image delineating information on cable 14 and the color information on cable 16 are operative through digital-to-analog decoding and control circuitry 18, 20 and 22 to instruct operation of the writing beam of tube 10. For this purpose, the graphic information decoded in circuitry 18 is operative to control the X and Y writing beam deflection inputs 24 and 26 of the control circuitry 22. The color information decoded in circuitry 20 controls storage intensity input 28 of circuitry
22.

In one case, the deflection information input on lines 24 and 26 controls operation of the deflection yokes utilized for writing in tube 10. The intensity input on line 28 controls the operation of the electron beam control grid of the tube 10 to modulate the electron beam during the write operation.
