Abstract

Distortion known as pin cushioning occurs when the face radius of a cathode ray tube is greater than the distance from the point of beam deflection to the face center of the tube. It is most severe in a flat faced tube. Since the degree of distortion varies with the position of the tube spot, a variable or changing correction current must be applied to both the X and Y deflection currents to compensate for this distortion.
