Two Dimensional Magnetic Core Storage

The two-dimensional magnetic core storage array has a matrix of cores 3. These are wired to form a plurality of word lines 4 in one direction and a plurality of bit lines 5 in the other direction.

Bit drivers 1-1... 1-N apply a full-select current to the corresponding bit line. The writing of the corresponding bit in other words is inhibited by a half-select current. This is provided by the partial read driver 2 which is applied to the non- selected word lines by means of word gates 6-2...6-N.

To read the word thus written, read driver 7 provides a full-select read current which is applied to the associated word gate. This causes the previously set word cores to switch, inducing a signal into the respective bit sense windings, not shown.
