Abstract

This device has a previous disc 1 which is suitably clamped between members 2 and 3 providing coaxially aligned ports 4 and 5, respectively. Disc 1 normally is positioned as shown in A to completely prevent gaseous flow from port 5 to port 4. This occurs provided the disc has an impervious portion 6 large enough to normally overlie port 4, as shown, However, disc 1 is adapted to yield as shown in B to permit flow of gaseous fluid from port 4 to port 5 through the non-clamped perforate portion of the disc surrounding portion 6.

Pneumatic Diode or Check Valve Device

This device has a previous disc 1 which is suitably clamped between members 2 and 3 providing coaxially aligned ports 4 and 5, respectively. Disc 1 normally is positioned as shown in A to completely prevent gaseous flow from port 5 to port 4. This occurs provided the disc has an impervious portion 6 large enough to normally overlie port 4, as shown, However, disc 1 is adapted to yield as shown in B to permit flow of gaseous fluid from port 4 to port 5 through the non-clamped perforate portion of the disc surrounding portion 6.

Portion 6 can be eliminated to permit flow at a slow rate from port 5 to port 4 and at a substantially greater rate in the reverse direction. Disc 1 can be of cloth such as linen. Portion 6 can be rendered impervious merely by applying a dab of glue to the cloth.
