This circuit is incorporated in the input leads of a trigger such as a Schmitt circuit. It promotes reliable triggering despite some loss of amplitude of the input signal.

Since there is usually a range of input voltage amplitude for the Schmitt circuit in which it does not trigger reliably, it is necessary that the input signal exceed this range.

The circuit comprises a differentiator in parallel with an amplifier feeding into a summer. This combination is installed at the Schmitt circuit input.

The summer output signal is peaked at its transitions. Thus, even if the output signal pulses from the pulse source suffer attenuation, the peaks at the transitions of the signal travel beyond the indecision range and the Schmitt triggering becomes certain.
