The monostable multivibrator has two transistors T1 and T2 and associated circuitry R1 ... R4 and C1 and C2.

In order to obtain a charging of capacitor C2 without affecting the pulse form at the circuit output B, a series diode D and a parallel resistance R5 are used. Diode D acts as a very high impedance when point B goes negative. The charging of capacitor C2 is then controlled by resistor R5. A rectangular pulse form is obtained at point B with a steep trailing edge of each output pulse.

The circuit is biased by resistance R3 from a positive voltage source +U and via point A from a negative voltage -U. Trigger pulses are applied to the circuit via condenser C3.
