Feeding Device for Special Prints

The device supplies a printer with a tape which can be cut, intentionally or accidentally, after part of the tape has been used. It positions the remaining part of the tape so that the whole length is used for printing. This device is for feeding tapes made of a sequence of numbered forms.

Plastic plate 1, punched with the same gauge as the machine feeding system, to which is fixed a set of clips 7, is placed ahead of the tape protected by sheet 3. Clips 4 are made in a metal plate 5 by cutting and folding. The so distorted plate is set or moulded in plate 1. This acts as leader to start a new continuous form. The driving pins engage first the holes of plate 1, then the superposed holes of plate 1 and tape 2, arid finally the holes of tape 2. The lower drawing shows a section at AB.

When the machine allows the clips to pass in the internal path of the paper, the device can be bound to the forms before their introduction into the machine. The whole set can be handled as an ordinary sequence of forms. In the other case, the binding is made after the passage of the paper only in the internal path. This is because the device is already introduced in the form tractors located closely above the print roller.
