Line Developer for Micro-printer

This heater is for developing an individual line of micro-print on a heat- sensitive film. Lines. 005'' high and.350'' long are successfully developed.

An electrical current flowing through a stainless steel heating element applies heat to the image area. A sheet of thermal insulating material and an aluminum- block heat-sink are mounted on either side of the heating element. Such is to prevent heat from leaking to film areas adjacent to the line of the image being developed. A slot in each block provides an additional heat barrier.

The cross sectional area of the heater element is reduced at both corners to maintain the corner temperature at the same level as that of the straight section. As a result, development temperature is uniform along the entire length of the heater face.
