Lamp Bulb Package

This is a housing and a casing for a lamp such as used in control panels for computers, switchboards, etc.

The housing is a resilient plastic cylinder 10 having lip 11 formed on the outer end which, with four tapered shoulders 12, locks the housing in panel 14 when inserted from the front. A pair of serpentine spring contacts 15 is mounted in the bottom of the bore of the housing. Holes 16 are provided for their associated wires.

Plastic lamp casing 17 is cylindrical with lens surface 18 formed on one end. Hat-shaped plastic base 20 has two pin contacts 21 molded in it. The leads of lamp 22 are soldered or welded to the ends of pins 21 extending from the reduced portion of the base. The lamp and base are adapted to be inserted in casing 17 with the detents 23 engaging apertures 24. Casing 17 which is slightly smaller in diameter than housing 10 is inserted in it until the free ends of pins 21 are engaged with spring contacts 15. Simultaneously, two lobes 25 on casing 17 engage the inner wall of the housing thus holding it in position.
