Hydraulic System

This is a hydraulic arrangement for producing, controlling and superimposing pressure pulses. It is particularly well suited for use as a setup unit for stick printers.

Pistons 21, 21a, 22 and 22a as well as another pair of similar pistons, not shown, are moved in synchronism and, in pairs, in opposite directions by rollers 24, 25, etc. The pressure fluid quantity pulses so produced correspond to values 20, 21, 22. They are distributed by constantly rotating rotary slides 33, 34, 35, 36, etc., among conduits 27, 28, 40, 41, 42 and 43. Conduits 40 and 42 always carry negative pulses. Conduits 41 and 43 always carry positive pulses.

The pulses are applied through controllable valves 44, 45 and 46 and through conduits 47 and 48 in any desired combination of the two ends of cylinder 29. In accordance with the combination of valves 44, 45, 46 which is actuated, indicator 31 connected to piston 30 may be set to any one of the digits of a scale 32. In the same way it is possible to control a stick printer.
