Abstract

The nitrogen heterocyclic complexes exhibit high efficiency of fluorescence from rare earth ions at room temperature. These complexes absorb light over a broad range of wavelengths in the ultraviolet region and emit in a narrow band characteristic of the rare earth ion emission. The nitrogen heterocyclic complexes exhibit high efficiency of fluorescence from rare earth ions at room temperature. Europium 1, 10 phenanthroline shows the highest efficiency of fluorescence at room temperature, and exhibits absorption from the 3200 Angstrom to 2000 Angstrom. Europium - 2, 2' bipyridine and europium temperature. Complexes of europium with bis- 1, 2, -diphenylphosphinoethane show characteristic europium emission with high efficiency at room temperature.
