Papermaking Control Device

This apparatus controls the dimensional stability of paper in connection with papermaking, where the paper is permitted to dry naturally during manufacture.

Drawing 1 is a functional block diagram of a papermaking machine. This has variable conveyer 3 deposed between wire conveyer 2 and press section 4 for providing a natural drying period for paperweb 9. Conveyer length, e.g., the drying time is controlled by displacing a plurality of separate conveyer belts 3- 1...3-n of which the complete conveyer 3 is composed, relative to each other (drawing 2).

Examining device 6 which has a heat lamp to test the shrinkage present in the paper being produced, is located between dryer section 5 and calendars 7. Examining device 6 generates a feedback signal via line 8 in order to control the length of natural drying which the paper undergoes in variable conveyer 3.
