Abstract

The relay is provided with energizing coils 4 and 5. The armature 3 is pivoted at point 13 about a pole piece of a U shaped pole unit. The armature has a V shaped end which enables a greater force to act between the armature and the pole piece. The dimensions of such a relay are much smaller than those of a conventional type. The preferred angles for the triangle pole piece V are 45 degrees. The V shape gives a greater area over which the magnetic flux acts than is the case in an armature with a plane end.
