Neon-Photoconductor Stabilization Technique

To compensate for the variability of photoconductors in a neon photo conductor circuit, a variable resistance R is employed to maintain a uniform current through the neon lamp N.

In the three way AND circuit, the current through the neon element N is a function of the light resistance of the three photo conductors PC. The variable resistance R is a non linear element whose resistance is a function of the current passing through it.

The variable resistance K changes in value to compensate for different values of light resistance of the photoconductors PC and maintains a more uniform current through the neon lamp N. This aids in providing uniform illumination of the photoconductors PC which are in turn sensed by the neon lamp N.
