Recorded Data Readback Check

The device effects a readback check of data written into a disk memory from an associated computer.

Ordinarily, the data written in the disk memory is compared with that in the computer register from which it originated. This necessitates holding the computer from further processing until the comparison is completed.

Here, an extra transducer 1 and disk surface 2 are provided in the disk memory 3. When data signals from the write amplifier 4 are transmitted through the head selection matrix 5 and written into any position in the disk memory 3, the data signals are simultaneously written at the corresponding location on the extra disk surface 2.

To accomplish a readback check, the data written at the two locations is switched to a compare unit 6 and compared. The computer proceeds with other activities during the readback check.
