Keyboard And Print Wheel Entry

A centrifugal switch is used to phase the takeoff from a printwheel and the entry of corresponding data into a computer.

The depression of key 10-1 of a keyboard having keys 10-0... 10-9 causes motor 12 to start rotating a shaft 14 through slip clutch 16. Block 18-1 halts rotation of shaft 14 in a discrete position corresponding to the data entered. Printwheel 20 is then in position for printing the data. Emitter 22 is in readiness for translating binary coded decimal data to a computer over cable 24. Centrifugal switch 26 is arranged on shaft 14 to hold contacts 28 open. This occurs until printwheel 20 and emitter 22 are properly positioned at which time contacts 28 are closed by fall-back of centrifugal switch 26.

Circuits for actuating print bar 30 and afterwards removing power to motor 12 are provided.
