Write Check Feature

Elimination of Read Back Check operations in disc files and drums is accomplished by locating a read head immediately behind the write head. Thus, data can be read immediately after being written.

The data read is fed to a burst check register 2 and check characters are generated. These characters are compared with the corresponding check characters generated by burst check register 1. This is when the data is sent to the write head for writing.

If the check characters are equal, then the information recorded is the same as the information sent to the write head.
