Hydraulic Control System

The control system is used in hydraulic systems in which timed events occur, including the filling and draining of at least one supply or operating reservoir.

When power switch 1 is closed, timer 3 is energized by a circuit including pressure switch contact 5 to start an operating cycle. This cycle includes, among other operations, the filling of a reservoir or tank by operation of fill valve 7 by a circuit including timer contact 9 and pressure switch contact 5. At a later time in the cycle, the reservoir or tank is emptied by operation of drain valve 11 by the circuit including timer contact 13.

When drain valve 11 opens, the pressure switch is exposed to the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid and contact 5 opens. This stops operation of the timer until such time as the reservoir is sufficiently emptied to permit switch 5 to close and restart the timer. This insures that sufficient time is permitted under any circumstances to allow the reservoir to empty, since the timing of the operation is interrupted until this action takes place.
