Abstract

This margin stop for a typewriter includes stop member 1 slidably mounted on rack 2 and engageable by a type carrier for limiting movement of the latter. Plate 3 slides on member 1 transversely of rack 2 and carries pin 4 engageable with a rack tooth for holding the stop in any set position. Pivotally mounted on pin 5 is cam plate 6 which is rocked in either direction by cord 7 passing over pulleys 8, one of which is rotated manually.

Plate 3 slides on member 1 transversely of rack 2 and carries pin 4 engageable with a rack tooth for holding the stop in any set position. Pivotally mounted on pin 5 is cam plate 6 which is rocked in either direction by cord 7 passing over pulleys 8, one of which is rotated manually.

Applying tension on cord 7 first extends spring 9 and then rocks cam plate 6. This forces plate 3 rearwardly to free member 1. Then, spring 9 acts to slide the member 1 along the rack 2.
