Developer

The apparatus develops film by application of heat. This is supplied selectively to portions of the film to permit development of different portions, one after the other.

An electrode unit 10 consists of a pair of electrodes 11 and 12 imbedded in a block 13 and having an arc gap between the electrodes. The arc gap is positioned adjacent an aperture 14 in the block 13 through which heat may escape to develop a limited area of the film 15. The aperture 14 is equal in area to the limited area of the film to be developed. Between the arc gap and the aperture is a small air chamber. The arc heats the air in the chamber to provide a uniform source of heat to develop the adjacent area of the film.

A rack 16 and pinion 17 move the electrode unit laterally across the film to selected positions. Sprocket holes 18 are provided for feeding the film past the electrode unit by sprocket wheels (not shown).
