Abstract

A magnetic recording surface 10 to which a magnetic recording field 11 is applied may be biased by a D. C. magnetic field applied parallel to it by means of suitably designed magnets 12 and 13. This allows a reduction in the recording field II necessary to accomplish magnetization of the magnetic recording surface 10 in the direction shown.

Improvement in Magnetic Recording

This allows a reduction in the recording field II necessary to accomplish magnetization of the magnetic recording surface 10 in the direction shown.

The advantage in using biasing magnets results from the reduction in power necessary to drive a recording head to create the necessary magnetic recording field 11 to effect magnetization.
