Relay Logical Circuits

It is possible to reduce the logic of machines by using the actuating mechanism of the switching component as a logical input. Simple forms of logical circuits are formed using relays. In these circuits only two values of voltage are used.

The lowest value of voltage is indicated by a 0 and the high value of voltage is indicated by a 1. The voltage difference between 0 and 1 is sufficient to pick up the relay coil R and transfer its points. By interchanging the values of voltage 0 and 1 shown connected permanently to the circuits in the OR circuits, these circuits become AND circuits. The principle of operation may be extended to other types of circuits such as cryogenic.
