Diode Circuit

This circuit provides an improvement in the difference between the two output voltages obtained in the circuits described at page 76, this issue of the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin.

By a compound circuit arrangement an output voltage V(0) is obtained which is of the same form as that produced by the circuit shown at page 74 this issue. In this circuit, I(max) of E3 is less than I(max) of E1 or E2. With characteristics for E1 and E2 as shown at the right and with the proper choice of R1 and R2 in the presence of 1.n =0, the voltage at point P is of such value as to cause switching of diode E3 to its high voltage state. On the other hand, if I(in) is large, the voltage at point P is too low to cause switching of diode E3 to its high voltage state so that the output voltage V(0) is small. Thus, the circuit provides the negation function.
