Monostable Ramp Generator

This monostable ramp generator is triggered by either a positive or negative input pulse to produce a linear voltage output ramp.

A constant current source through T1 is normally grounded through T2 which is forwardly biased from V4 through R4 and Zener diode Z1. T3 is normally reversely biased. Upon application of a positive pulse at P2, T3 conducts removing the forward bias of T2. Alternatively, a negative pulse at P1 reversely biases T2 directly.

With T2 non-conducting, constant current from T1 charges C1 through R2 maintaining T3 forwardly biased until the output ramp voltage equals V3. At this time, diode D1 fires, taking all current from T1. Thus, T3 no longer conducts. When the collector of T3 reaches the breakdown potential of diode Z1, T2 again is forwardly biased and reverts to the clamped condition.
