High Speed Punch

A punching machine for perforating a record card 12 has a rotary two lobe cam 18, actuating levers 15 and 16 associated with a punch 13, and an electrically controlled holding device 19.

Device 19 is normally latched by an armature.59 of a magnet 62 in a position in which it is disengaged from the cam 18. A lever 14 has an intermediate portion pivotally connected to the member 15 and an end portion riding on the cam 18.

The punch 13 is positioned by a bell crank restoring lever 17 which is rockably supported at its knee on a pin. One arm of 17 cooperates with the cam 18 and the other arm of this lever has a hooklike end projecting into a notch provided in the punch 13.

A plurality of such punching devices is arranged to form a bank comprising a number of punches to perforate a record card which is moved stepwise relative to the punches.
