Abstract

In the manufacture of magnetic recording transducers, mechanical operations such as bending, shearing and the like, performed after the annealing process, can change the magnetic characteristics of the core material. With this process the characteristics are preserved and cores of maximum quality are obtained.

Manufacture of Electromagnetic Transducer

In the manufacture of magnetic recording transducers, mechanical operations such as bending, shearing and the like, performed after the annealing process, can change the magnetic characteristics of the core material. With this process the characteristics are preserved and cores of maximum quality are obtained.

The structure comprises complementary ceramic block portions 10 and 12 having preshaped grooves. These receive snugly fitting, preformed magnetic material 14. Then portions 10 and 12 are fastened together and the pole faces are dressed along the edge 18. Next, the entire assembly is heated to anneal the magnetic material 14.

The last operation is to apply winding 16 to the structure.
