Abstract

This strip transmission line attenuator includes a center conductor 1 having a section 2 that is bifurcated so as to form two branches 3 and 4. These are flared to a distance and then form two parallel lines 5 and 6. The center conductor 1 is held in position between electrically conductive plates 7 and 8 by layers 9 and 10 of dielectric material.

Attenuator

This strip transmission line attenuator includes a center conductor 1 having a section 2 that is bifurcated so as to form two branches 3 and 4. These are flared to a distance and then form two parallel lines 5 and 6. The center conductor 1 is held in position between electrically conductive plates 7 and 8 by layers 9 and 10 of dielectric material.

A thin lossy sheet 11 is placed between the two branches perpendicularly to a plane passing through each of the two branches. Sheet 11 may be positioned at a plurality of locations in the vicinity of the vertex of the flared branches along the center line of the center conductor to provide various attenuation values. Arm 12 controls the position of the sheet in slot 13.
