Magnetic Arithmetic Matrix Giving Simultaneous Results

The magnetic core binary adder simultaneously generates the sums S(1), S(2), S(3), S(4) and output carry C(0) for a 4-bit adder group in terms of AND and OR functions.

The Boolean expressions are:
(1) The Parallel Inputs are A(1), B(1), A(2), B(2), A(3),

B(3), A(4), B(4).
(2) The Carry Out, C(0) = (A(4)B(4))+(A(3)B(3))(A(4)+B(4))+(A(2)B(2))(A(4)+B(4))(A(3)+B(3)) +(A(1)B(1))(A(4)+B(4))(A(3)+B(3))(A(2)+B(2))
(3) The Sum Outputs are:

S1=(A(1)+B(1)) * bar (A(1)B(1))

S2 = (A(2)+B(2)) * bar (A(2)B(2)) * bar (A(1)B(1))+ A(2)B(2))(A(1)b(1)) + ; bar (A(2)+B(2))(A(1)B(1)) S3 = (A(3)+B(3)) * bar (A(3)B(3)) * bar (A(2)B(2)) * bar (A(1)B(1))+(A(3)B(3))(A(2)B(2)) ; +(A(3)B(3))(A(1)B(1))(A(2)+B(2))+ bar (A(3)+B(3))(A(2)B(2))+ bar (A(3)+B(3))(A(1)B(1))(A(2)+B(2))

S4 = (A(4)+B(4)) * bar(A(4)B(4)) * bar(A(3)B(3)) * bar (A(2)B(2)) * bar (A(1)B(1))+(A(4)B(4))(A(3)B(3)) +(A(4)B(4))(A(2)B(2))(A(3)+B(3))+(A(4)B(4))(A(1)B(1))(A(3)+B(3)) (A(2)+B(2)) + bar (A(4)+B(4))(A(3)B(3))+ bar(A(4)+B(4)) (A(2)B(2))(A(3)+B(3)) + bar(A(4)+B(4))(A(1)B(1))(A(3)+B(3)) (A(2)+B(2))

The primary logical functions required for generation of the carry C(0) and sums S(1), S(2), S(3), S(4) are provided in terms of AND and OR functions by AND cores A(1), A(2), A(3) and A(4) and OR cores O(1), O(2), O(3) and O(4).

The AND function is obtained by employing coincident-current techniques. By use of a square-loop magnetic core, the AND function is obtained by specifying that the current inputs on the A and B lines are equal to or slightly less than the threshold of a core. The simultaneous occurrence of b...
