Abstract

A positioning device to provide an extremely accurate linear position of an output shaft 10 consists of a series of rotatable turrets 11. These contain accurately machined pins 12 of calculated lengths. Turrets 11 are so arranged that each pin on each turret rotates through a common centerline 13.

Programmable Positioning Device

A positioning device to provide an extremely accurate linear position of an output shaft 10 consists of a series of rotatable turrets 11. These contain accurately machined pins 12 of calculated lengths. Turrets 11 are so arranged that each pin on each turret rotates through a common centerline 13.

By selectively positioning a pin on each turret on the common centerline by external devices not shown, a load release cylinder 14 places the pins into contact with each other such that the sum of the lengths of the pins differentially position shaft 10.
