Transducer Supporting Shoes

Shoes float on a fluid film on the surface of a magnetic drum to position transducer assemblies near the surface of the drum.

A write transducer assembly 4 is pivotally mounted on a single shoe 1. A read transducer assembly 5 is pivotally mounted on shoes 2 and 3. Shoe 1 nests between shoes 2 and 3 so that the magnetic gaps of the transducers in the assemblies are positioned close together.
