Alignment Device

(Image Omitted)

The method determines the angular alignment of two objects about a mutual axis, where the center of rotation and transverse motions are not controlled.

A rectangular collimated beam of light emanating from the reference surface of the first object is directed upon a photocell array affixed to the reference surface of the second object. The photocell array consists of four cells electrically interconnected. The axis of sensitivity is parallel to the rays of the collimated light beam.

Rotation of either object about this axis unbalances the bridge resulting in an output voltage which is a function of angular mis-alignment.
