Continuous prefolded paper forms are fed through guide grills 1 and throat 2 of a guide assembly for stacking in a zigzag manner in stack 9. The guide assembly has racks 3 mounted on each side which engage pinions 4 carried on shaft 5 which is driven by motor 6.

Continuous Form Stacker

Continuous prefolded paper forms are fed through guide grills 1 and throat 2 of a guide assembly for stacking in a zigzag manner in stack 9. The guide assembly has racks 3 mounted on each side which engage pinions 4 carried on shaft 5 which is driven by motor 6.

Light source 7 and photo-electric cell unit 8 are mounted on the bottom of the guide. The beam of the light source is directed at the photo-electric cell. As the height of the stack increases, the beam is interrupted by the stack and unit 8 closes an electrical circuit to 6.

Motor 6 then drives the guide assembly upwardly until the beam reaches the photo-electric cell again. At this time, the motor circuit is broken. Thus, the height of the throat above the top of the stack is maintained substantially constant and jamming or backfolding of the paper is prevented.
