Abstract

A device for de-magnetizing a magnetizable surface 2 on drum 1 comprises drum 3 which has a number of magnets 4 extending radially from its shaft 5. The magnets are embedded in non-magnetic material 6 and are arranged so that like poles of all the magnets are at the circumference of drum 3.

Magnetic Eraser

A device for de-magnetizing a magnetizable surface 2 on drum 1 comprises drum 3 which has a number of magnets 4 extending radially from its shaft 5. The magnets are embedded in non-magnetic material 6 and are arranged so that like poles of all the magnets are at the circumference of drum 3.

In operation, drums 1 and 3 are rotated in opposite directions, the speed of drum 3 being greater than that of drum 1. As the surfaces of the drums pass each other, the magnets set up an alternating field at the surface of drum 1 to demagnetize it.
