Contact Pin Removal Tool

A contact pin removal tool is provided for removing a snap-in contact pin of an electrical contact.

The tool comprises spring loaded plunger 10 having an elongated opening 11 in it. Plunger 10 is slideably received in barrel 12 which is removably mounted at the end of handle assembly 13. In operation, a contact pin 14 is nested in opening 11 of plunger 10. Pressure is applied to handle assembly 13 which causes barrel 12 to slide over the plunger and a shoulder 15 of contact pin 14. Upon the application of further pressure, barrel 12 passes through aperture 16 in resilient insert 17 and compresses retention spring 18 to release the contact pin for removal.

Adjustable spacer 19, at the end of handle assembly 13, controls traverse of plunger 10 to facilitate the pushing of contact pin 14 free of resilient insert 17. The tool is adapted for use with both socket and pin terminals.
