Abstract

The thin, flexible, plastic nylon impregnated filter 10 is under peripheral tension. Washer 1 having flange 2 is positioned on plug 3 having threaded flange 4. Resilient O-ring 6 is positioned adjacent flat surface 7 of flange 2. Second O-ring 8 is positioned on bevelled surface 9 of flange 2. Flexible filter 10 is positioned on top of washer 1 and O-ring 8.

The thin, flexible, plastic nylon impregnated filter 10 is under peripheral tension. Washer 1 having flange 2 is positioned on plug 3 having threaded flange 4. Resilient O-ring 6 is positioned adjacent flat surface 7 of flange 2.

Second O-ring 8 is positioned on bevelled surface 9 of flange 2. Flexible filter 10 is positioned on top of washer 1 and O-ring 8.

External cylinder 11 having threads 12 is placed over the assembly comprising 1, 3, 6, 8 and 10. As cylinder 11 is screwed onto plug 3, O-rings 6 and 8 are compressed (right hand drawing) to provide a tight seal. O-ring 8 presses the filter 10 against the surface 13 of 11.

As ring 8 is expanded outwardly by bevelled surface 9, edges of filter 10 also are frictionally engaged and moved outwardly. This places filter 10 under peripheral tension. Pressurized fluid supplied through tube 14 and aperture 15 in washer 1 is filtered through 10 and through an opening 16 in 11.
